Thinking about purchasing a Star 4700 (DD13) with 200 gals. Sales states that I can get the 13 Gal DEF with the 200 gals but can't find confirmation anywhere. Was going with the Coronado 122SD with DD13 but when it went through engineering they said I would have to get 23 gal DEF (200gals fuel) ; I questioned this through numerous phone calls and no one could explain why 23 Gal DEF; some elusive internal publication referenced the Coronado with DD13 could use 13 gal up to 170 gals but then required 23gal. Red flag to me, plus I don't want a truck made in Mexico and driven to dealer by??? Couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't be driven...nothing like having some idiot break-in your rig. Anyone out there have a Star with 13gal DEF and 200gals fuel?

With further research I am familiar with the folks that Drive these vehicles from San Antonio Tx. to the Dealership are union drivers that make a very good wage are train in driving a brand new rig and are versed in proper break in of said vehicle, some trucks are "Piggy Backed" and these drivers are very well trained and tested in the uncoupling of these trucks they carry their own company approved tools to do this and again are paid very well, so to your comment of Who Knows who is driving your rig to put 1000 miles on it rest assured that they take very good care of your truck before it gets to the dealership. The driving requirements to bet in with this company is very limiting to those who actually get a job with them, Once you are with them you stay with them for a very long time. I'm glad I am able to put your concerns about this to rest. Take Care.

ive got a Volvo with the d13 engine and 250 gal fuel tank. It's got a 13 gallon def tank and only have to fill it every 3rd or 4th time I fill up the fuel.

I've got a Volvo D13 as well, 300 gallons, 18 gallon DEF tank.

A couple of hundred miles isn't going to ruin a truck that is put together properly.
What is your point? About what? All I said is the exact truth. I know of it myself, not hear say! -
my mack i got has about a 20gal tank and i fill it up every 3-4k miles... and i have 200 gallon tank

So some dealers I know personally that get trucks delivered with damage from wannabe truck drivers that do drive away is all BS then?
Only reason most are in a union, is so they can load at the various plants. They have as many union rights as I do, being an owner operator. I have seen far too many idiotic moves made by drive away fools, to trust any of them.
And the words "Freightliner", "Made in Mexico", and "put together properly", do not belong in the same paragraph, never mind sentence.
OP, Get a Star, you wont regret it.
Martintruckon and cetanediesel Thank this.
