In that case, probably the only solution is to take it to a Volvo mechanic. I did have a similar issue once and even had a tow truck lined up to get me in the morning as I was already stopped for the night. My truck would not do a forced regen but it was real cold that night so I idled all night. Well, the truck did a regen all by itself a couple times during the night and everything cleared up on the codes so I cancelled the tow truck and went on my Merry way. Hope you can get yours taken care of.

So you suggesting to leave it on all night? Maybe it would fix the problem? Bc it says it will go in derate mode in less than 36 mins rn.

DPF is a different system than the SCR. A regen would more than likely be a waste of time.
Dockbumper Thanks this. -
It doesn't go through at all even if i want to do it. There's nothing i can do tonight, just to wait for tomorrow morning to go at dealer

Yeah plus I see later you said it was an I shift so that won't work.

I had a "poor quality def" " engine will derate" warning last week on a 2019 KW 680. I was about 2 hours South of Little Rock on I30. Made it to the KW dealership in LR without issue. Bad DEF sensor. Replaced sensor. No problems since.
baha Thanks this. -
Yes that was what I was suggesting. Just because it is in derate mode does not mean the truck will not stay on. Just means you can't drive faster than 5 mph.Last edited: May 10, 2021

Not quite sure about that.....I could be wrong. It may just shut down in 32 minutes. Also, keeping it running won't solve your "DEF" issue. It is emissions related and EPA requirement on the manufacturer are very strict, (right or wrong), let's not start that debate in this thread. It may not start with a faulty DEF issue. Let us know the verdict.
