    I was driving in Louisiana today and a white SUV pasted me. I noticed the drive had an artificial right hand with a grabbing hook on the end. He was steering with the hook because he was texting with the other hand.

    The splinters come from the "joints" between the regular pieces when it is shattered at high speed.
    That is why the pieces don't have sharp edges, because the edges break off, and in this case form splinters.

    If you have ordinary glass and it breaks, like plate glass... that is the absolute worse. You can have your rib cage carved out of you and expire right there.
