I live in Tx and I believe after you complete the terms of deferred adjudication, your record is expunged.
I wouldn't even mention it to a prospective employer, why open up a can of worms?
If they bring it up, tell them your record was expunged after completing the deferred adjudication.
Better yet, do an Intellious background check on yourself, and see if it comes up.

Okay, our experience with deferred adjudication in the state of Texas (yes our son had it one point and husband was a 20 year LEO in the state of Texas): it will not be completely erased from your record, you're absolutely correct. It will show but not as a conviction nor as probation.
Since there are some members on this forum that state they had felony convictions yet have jobs obviously someone hires drivers with records. The question would be "WHO and WHEN". Obviously you're not wanting to wait 5 years so here's what I'd do in your current shoes: I'd call those big companies, not give my true name, not give all the details. I'd ask if they consider someone who has a deferred adjudication on their record. Don't tell the current situation but what will be when you're actually looking for the job. The recruiter is going to lock onto the words "I'm on probation" and you don't want that so tell it as if you're past that point.
Just my thoughts. Good luck!!crew1910 Thanks this. -
I'm on 5yr deferred adjucation felony probation and have completed over a year of it and was trying to see if I could even obtain my CDL with a company with this hanging over my head, its for theft of property I was over paid on food stamps and am paying back what the amount was, I've never had a CDL and I have a clean driving record. Does anyone know anything about my questions? I'm in texas, thanks in advance

Might try a more current thread on here.

You're good. Just a matter of shopping around for a company.
The state of Texas might pay for private cdl school; have you tried that? It's called the WIOA Program.
Millis Transfer in Burleson,TX hires felons and has their own cdl school. It's a good outfit and probably make around $50K your first year there.
Where are you located in Texas; city/town.
Submit some online applications, then follow up with a phone call and say, "I'm checking on my cdl school application."

There's more, but try these first.
Might get a local job if you attend a private cdl school through the WIOA Program.Last edited: Mar 26, 2018

You might be able to get a CDL right now. However you are going to have a difficult time getting a OTR job while still on probation. You need to be clear is what is hanging over you head the conviction or the probation. If it is probation I am sorry, but I don't see many carriers hiring you right now. You can try the suggestions made in the post before this one. No matter though, I do wish you good luck.

What difference does it make? Resurrecting a old thread or making a new one. Crew1910 might not be active now so a quote or a callout might not get replied to. Other then this I see no real harm. -
What difference does it make ? Well it could make a lot of difference to the poster that's looking for a quick response dumb axss. Since this is an inactive thread. Take your head out of your a ssLast edited: Mar 26, 2018

best way to find out is start applying for jobs. No one can really predict what will happen because each persons circumstances are different and each companies employment policy is different check out there individual web sites they will usually stipulate what the minimum requirements are.
