I'm aware of the issues around driver retention (and sourcing them in the first place) but already have a couple of people that have worked for me previously in another business dead keen to get back on the road, (they previously ran team for 7 years). Everyone is in the same boat on this issue, and unfortunately short of cloning myself, it's just another management issue to overcome in running a business.

As mentioned I have the ability to hold most if not all my assets in an offshore trust due to certain citizenships I hold, that have proven to be virtually in penetratable, (panama papers) so again while I don't think it gives me a carte Blanche license to run round like a maniac it would certainly make any potential recovery from a lawsuit a tough road even for a very determined attorney. -
Agreed,
by the way what in your mind qualifies as a small fleet? -
The whole Nevada/Delaware tax thing is basically a scam unless your a BIG mega trucking company. First you have insurance to cover yourself and company if your in accident..Nobody on here will make so much money you need a special tax shelter state. If you did you can always move you corporation to another. Let's face if your doing that kind of money moving to corporate location to another state is no big deal.
The secret to making big money is not the savings on insurance or tax shelter. First you have to make the money. If you do then moving you corporation to another state really is no problem at that level.
Do a S corporation and after you pay all your employees. Then pay yourself a basic pay. Then you can take the rest of the money out of your corporation as dividends and not pay as much tax
Why would anyone want a Nevada corporation? How do you think your going g to save tax money vs S Corporation. People might find this shocking, if you make a profit you pay taxes. So does a corporation, it just the price of doing business. -
So you're planning on opening an actual office in one of those states?

How can you guys open a business bank account under your LLC in those states? I just opened up a business account in Indiana, I thought having my Mail box through the Ups Store would be good enough and it wasn't. Had to use a family members physical address and then use my box as my secondary...

Werner Enterprises’ Executive Chairman C. L. Werner began a humble business in 1956 with one truck. Werner, 19, went to Omaha to work in a factory before deciding he would rather drive a truck.
When Max Fuller and Patrick Quinn founded US Xpress in 1986, they began with a modest fleet
Robert E. Low started Prime in Urbana, Missouri, in 1970 with one dump truck. Robert's vision of providing the ultimate in customer satisfaction enabled Prime to expand rapidly to become a $50 million operation by 1980, when the company relocated corporate headquarters to Springfield, Missouri
A man named Earl Oren risked everything to make a difference. Knowing he couldn’t afford his own truck, Earl invested in a driver, with a single truck and trailer, and Dart moved a load of canned food. His living room in St. Paul, Minnesota, became his office. And when competitors told him he couldn’t build the business he envisioned, he did it anyway. Dart continued to grow its fleet, and by 1975, this small, regional company was now serving 48 states.
The list goes on and on.....
2037: Liquidforce Trucking Company started 20 years ago with 1 truck and trailer and now owns several hundred. Just saying.....

Everyone agrees that a business requires a registered agent correct? Well my Regus address is used for that as well as my DOT authority mailing address.
On your authority it's going to ask for a physical address for your operations. For that I use the drop yard where I park at. i'm working on having a small fleet plus I got some other stuff going on besides trucking but vendors get excited when they see it like that vs someone's home or PO box; So I've been told.
