On mine there is only one airline going to the retarder from the cab, which leads to the diaphragm on the retarder. The only electrical going to the retarder is for the engine oil temperature sender.

In regard to the in-cab components, I see no reason that they could not be removed as long as the air line to the retarder was capped to prevent crap from getting into it. You should have a supply air line feeding the control handle and/or electric over air switch that is mounted on the right side of the steering column below the dash, plus the wiring going to and from the switch on the dash (if yours has one).

Thanks for the reply. Under the cab on the passanger side is a bendix contral box. Electrical lines on one side air on other with air regulator. Couple wires run to one end of cylinder with cable out other end to throttle pedal.

Your set up is different than both of mine then. Seems like yours may have been added aftermarket?
If that is the case then you should have an air supply line going to that control box, and a retarder line that is regulated going to the retarder from the control box..

The cable going to the throttle would be the cut out when you step on the throttle, similar to that for Jakes.
I think that you could cap the line going into the retarder, cap the supply line going to the regulator at the opposite end of that line (source end), find where the wiring comes from and dispose of it without leaving any live wires, and remove the control box.

    Gringo 47 Thanks this.

Thanks again. Having engine rebuilt, and taking brakesaver off. Figured I would get rid of the excess possible leaks down the road

Your welcome. Some people may be interested in your retarder; I'd hang on to all the plumbing and everything.

I don't for sure. It seems like very few people want them, but those that do want them a lot. I may be wrong, but it seems that @superhauler, or someone else in the Heavy Haul forum may have been looking for one. It might be worth posting it over there.

    Good luck!
