I run the FS 1212. The 256-8753 plugs way to easy in winter. I would like a Cat filter that flows like the 1212. I have thought about going with the old steel bowl with the screen in it. 1212 pulls 1 or 2" restriction, the 8753 4 or 5"

    I have a 1r-0749 and a 175-2949, i take it these aren't the ideal filters to run?

Cat 1R0749 secondary. I think the quality of the Cat filters is better. At least they fit better on the base than other brands. I haven't found a Cat shop that can cross a filter that flows like the 1212, they just want to sell the 256-8753. Some day I'll have to check their filter specs myself if they have them on their website. They must have a coarser filter from some other application that would fit.

The 1R-0749 is what you want, if you have an engine older than an Acert the 175-2949 is sufficient.

On my BXS the FS 1000 pulls 4-5" on the restriction gauge brand new, the 1212 only pulls 2-3". Just my experience.

We found that the 1212 was a lot better filter for the Cats, on the primary and it made a big difference on fuel preasure. We tried all kinds of Cat filters, and the 1000, and 1001 Fleetguards we tried the Donaldson's. The 1212's worked for the full service intervals, some would work OK for about 1/2 the cycle.
    Just a thought!

I used to run the fleetgaurd ff105 on mine before I installed the airdog system. the 105 had less restriction than anything else that I tried. it lasted as long as anything else.
