When you’re looking into beer it’s also good to do some local research. A Budweiser distributor in Ohio can suck but a Budweiser distributor in Maryland can be an awesome job. Each distributor is its own company that will offer different things.

I drove a keg truck. Delivered to mostly bars and restaurants. Didn't handle many cases, usually 30-40, with 50-80 kegs depending on the day. Wasn't too bad of a job, delivering to bars is a better experience than dealing with the a holes at gas stations who make you wait for an eternity to get checked in.

However, two problems that seem to be common in the beer industry. The main issue is the money just isn't there. You're never going to get rich in the beer distribution business unless you own the company. Every move is seeingly a lateral move. Move to a less physically demanding job, surprise, you make less money, which wasn't great to begin with.

Secondly, managment at the beer companies are the definition of a good ol boys club. Every manager or supervisor or anyone who had a desk or an office is some higher ups buddy. They all BS with each other and screw around all day while you literally break your back making the company run. What does this have to do with you? Well, it makes it pretty difficult to ever get promoted if you aren't someones BFF.

In my opinion driving for any of the beverage companies (beer or soft drink) is good to get your one years experience but then it's time to go. They'll keep you hanging around for years with only COL raises (if that).

If you'e going to work yourself to the bone, might as well go food service, at least you'l make real money for your work.
