you drag the tire down the side rail. thats if your ramp isnt bald. if your ramp is bald, you sort of have to balance the speed of your hand truck with the speed which you slip and stumble down the ramp.
no joke, ive had trailers so bad i would just walk one or two cases in at a time. ive also sat and waited on road service to come out and flip the ramp, when there are good teeth on the other side. im up in buffalo, where its wet and slippy alot, you might be in a dry warm area where it doesnt matter as much.Dinomite Thanks this. -
the ramp is the part of the equation no one thinks of, since your traction on that determines what you can do. if you have a longer ramp, on an air ride trailer, with sharp teeth on the ramp grates, you can go down it with 350-400lbs, no problem. if you have a crappy, high riding, leaf spring trailer, with a shorter ramp, THATS BALD, you will have a hard time with just your body and no wheeler.
you will learn to loathe everyone thats too lazy to scribble down "ramp bald, needs repair" on their dvir.Dinomite Thanks this. -
brakes! wtf! lucky! we dont get brakes, we get writeups! they did away with our brakes, since they want us to pick up the pace!!

Geez! They are cracking the whip there now. When your famous like I was at USF you get a BRAND NEW 2 wheeler with stair sliders rubber too. A lot of Senior drivers were eyeballing my #####.

Of course during a bad snow storm I pull the worst old ##### smooth ramp that happened to ice up. They have us bags of deicer and I spread it all over the ramp. Took a stop or two before the ice was gone. When slip and sliding the first time.

Radman you make it seem like its all an injury waiting to happen. Friend of mine got a job doing food and he was like its all on carts this isn't bad... Until after training going into NYC and NOTHING of his on carts.

oh im famous all right, lol!! they used to try and punish me with lousy equipment, until it bit them in the ### when id stand up for myself and make them fix it, instead of their poop boys who would run up and down stairs with broken feet and torn rotator cuffs, "because its a good job!", lol.... lousy equipment= LOTS of overtime....
-
ive been in lousy enough weather i just give up on the ramp for anything past my body, ill tailgate the load, then work it from the ground. if they dont like it, management is free to quit anytime they want, lol!!
