Here I sit in Calgary. I have a load of chocolate bars for delivery at Loblaws DC22. In their sheer brilliance, they had the load to be picked up from Toronto on thursday morning (which I did) then when I am one day's drive, change my delivery appointment to Wednesday at 23:00. Thank you Loblaws, I enjoy warehousing your freight, most likely for free, for an extra 3 days. Looks like they play the same games here as they do in Cambridge, ON. This will be the last of what I haul for these clowns.

As much as I would like to, now that I am the one that has to directly deal with the insurance claim, not get paid for the load, risk word getting out then not getting loaded ever again, I have to sit here and try to enjoy myself best I can. I am at the Husky on 32nd ave and Barlow trail. Today I got a couple invoices made and mailed, and went and watched 3 movies at the theatre. Turned out not that bad. I may get a room from the Super 8 next door tomorrow.

Prairie Boy: I am getting a good rate for coming here and the guy I got this load from, he is just setting up with this account. He claims to have 300 loads to move before Christmas. It is a new customer of mine and I don't want to burn the bridge too quickly. I told him I enjoy doing these runs, but if the time frame is going to be this wide then I will look for something else. He sincerely apologized and we agreed that in the future the delivery time MUST be set in stone before the truck is even loaded, or else his customer will pay an extra $250 per day. For now I will leave it at that and will remember it for the future.

There's a hooters down the road from that husky lol. One of the few places I would sleep in Calgary and Atleast there's stuff to do around there. Stay away from the flying j's. I'm in Calgary too now and get to sleep at a dealership since I can't night drop. Yay

Yep. I am not patronizing FJ in Canada anymore. Their service has gone so far into the dumper that I have no reason to stop there other than to sleep. Husky is a big enough chain with plenty of fuel stops and cardlocks. Their new points program seems to be a pretty sweet deal too. Collect 1 point per LITRE, so yesterday I got about 750 points, and showers cost I think 50 points. Never expire also. I'd say that is pretty darn good.

In the USA I have also switched away from PFJ and while independents are my first choice, Petro/TA is the large chain that does it for me.

Never seen lizards at that husky but I usually sleep at the chevron down the road if I deliver to a dealership across the street. Always empty

Loblaws is probably the largest user of freight services in Canada and they are tough customers. Waiting is just part of their game. They like dealing with small outfits. If you complain they drop you and go on to another. They deal with all their suppliers in the same manner. Not nice.
