Just like anything else, it's a matter of personal preference...

I use Rottela in my 3406E CAT since day one, and have no problems

I think it is not so much the oil you use but rather the filters you pick that matter more.. I have a Cummins in my truck and swear by Fleetguard filters.. In my old Cat.. it was Cat filters only.. NO Baldwin, Fram, or Napa for me...

Develop a good oilk change regiment that works for your application.. (I do mine every 12-15k). Don't overlook GREASE... If you plan on keeping your truck for the long run It'll be the cheapest maintaince you can buy.. I grease whenever I'm hanging around.. sometimes every weekend..

What I am looking for is which oil canneries between the 2 are reducing the additive package that help reduce engine wear.

With Petro now wanting $240 for an oil change that includes grease.
I think I am going to handle the task myself now.
On filters it has always had the engine manufacturer brand used since I owned it.
    thanks for the feed back.

If you are gonna start changing your own oil, I would look into more than just Delo or Rottela. There are many more oil brands out there that are better in the price, additive package, and some brands you can get free sampling.

$240 is what the going price is around my home.

I thought I could do it cheaper, boy was I wrong!

By the time I bought oil filters, fuel filters, and oil I was well over
$250. Figure my time and the $240 is well worth it, shoot they even
grease the truck for you and a couple other things.

one example would be Shaeffers oil( 7000 syn blend or 9000 full syn ) 17.00 and 19.00 gal with free shipping to your location. sample kits and lab service is available. you can get more info . search bob is the oil guy.

Also, Shaeffer oil is the only oil i have seen still using Moly. a anti wear additive
