Deputies: Teacher Tried To Meet Minor For Sex

I am all for locking up every pervert who shows up to have sex with young kids, but this person did not show up. How can someone be arrested without actually trying to commit the crime? This man only communicated on the computer with someone. Maybe he was just investigating what teens do online or how easy it is to arrange something with a teen. He never actually showed up to have sex, so how can he be arrested?

I would think it would depend on the context of the chat. If it were graphic and explicit, lock him up. Of course, I'm one of those that feels if they guy actually goes through with it and molests the child, he needs to be deleted. Period.

Could be possible, but why didn't he notify authorities of what he had found?

Simple enough, now under the existing laws and attitude of the majority, you WILL be considered GUILTY without a TRIAL. Therefore, any contact with the authorities would have led to immediate arrest.

Under US law, no crime was committed was there?
