Make sure your computer is off when traveling also, unless you have a solid state hard drive.

To the O/P, also look at used computers, sometimes you can hit places that sell high end laptops form companies that turn them in when they get new.

Lol I was overexagerating. But that is part of my main concern is the GPU among the rest not getting the juice it needs to run at max performance. Ive had desktops before but they were all fan cooled. Never done liquid cooling before so. But now I know, no liquid cooling in a big rig.

Like others have said I am a litle weary on road vibrations. Do you do anything to cushion it against such? Also I have heard before that anything short of a pure sine wave inverters will cause issues with electronics. Case in point I once ran a PS3 off a 300 watt (more than enough to power ps3 and tv combo). PS ran fine for a while before it decided not to work right....powered on but would not send signal to display. Worked fine when I took it to the house.

Anyways, I got these...two of them in fact, plus that inverter on the left. Both run without having engine started or APU running or on.

Nope, nothing special. If you do install another board just make sure it's screwed down. Most desktops have everything on the mother board so there are no extra boards in any of the slots. Just make sure the PC is secured and cannot move. Keep in mind, these systems get shipped by trucks. No special padding other then Styrofoam and that's to keep it from moving. The monitors now can take a real beating also.

Keep in mind. Most have a fridge, microwave, LCD TV, DVD player, printer and all sorts of other stuff rattling around and they do just fine. This isn't the 1970's anymore. This stuff can take a direct mortar hit.

Long time ago my buddy who owned an appliance repair shop decided to clean out all the dust inside his desktop computer. He took it out back and used his 110psi hose. The main CPU and a few other chips were blown right out of their sockets.

sounds like a nice idea, those solid state drives can get pricey though for the space I need.

My laptop is 17.4inches which works fine for me, I use it for my movies etc and dont bother with a tv, I have thought about getting me a nice size monitor or tv to run hdmi though.

Ya, their pretty pricey at $600 for a 180gb drive. Most disk drives today park the head when the power is off and also have drop and vibration sensors that park and lock the head in the event of a drop or bang.

For 458 or so I could get a 1TB Samsung 840 EVO. They sell the Pro for almost double that.
