I didn't expect the market to be as bad as it is right now hauling cars when I had my truck built.
I am not grossing enough. I considered converting the truck back to a semi and grabbing a suncountry 5 car but it would be a huge expense that will take a long time to recoup. it would also double my insurance. Settled for pulling a trailer for $130 dollar a year extra on my insurance for a 3rd unit and hope that it would offset the running cost.
Couldn't wait to have a custom trailer made so I bought one that sat on the lot and modified it to work the way I wanted.
2021 Pequea car/equipment trailer 10,000 GVWR. Bought ramps to load the truck straight from the trailer.

What about pulling a RV trailer or something like that for money? Not sure how much they pay but might be something to consider with some small trailers on the truck.

The salesman at my local RV dealership told me there's 6 months' worth of RVs sitting in Indiana just waiting to be hauled to the dealerships.

Most RV jobs are out in Indiana (I'm in nyc) and don't seem to be paying more than a regular car.
Most RVs are too long to haul with my truck and put me over 65 foot long.
The few used trailers I tried to book off the loadboard where in such poor condition I'd be taking a huge risk pulling them and no one wants to pay my asking price to put these wind sails on the truck.

If I ever stop hauling cars I'll most likely convert back to semi and do power only or leave trucking completely.

It's a shame, but this "new world" we are experiencing, Bob Dylan said it best, "you better start swimming or you'll sink like a stone, cause these times they are a changin",,meaning, throw conventional wisdom out the window, and haul water to the dope growers,,,or SOMETHING, just not cars or RV's, or anything that the masses might have bought in the past. Hey, think I'm nuts? I read, the topical cannibus industry, ointments, and such, went from $380 million in sales 5 years ago, to over $2.2 BILLION last year. What are you driving a truck for,? You talk about desperate times,,tip of the iceberg, we haven't seen anything yet, my friend. I say, park the truck and drive for Ace Hardware,,,

It's not just they don't pay, but I've heard the RV dealers are real A-holes on delievery. They nit pick the #### out of everything, trying to back charge you to save themselves money on delievery.

I would think with gas prices going through
The roof, the first thing people stop buying are rv's
And anything with a v8 motor.

They can't afford the rv or the gas in the truck to pull it.
Cram on as many little cars as you can.

If we just had a pandemic who was buying RVs? It’s not a pandemic when you see more campers and kayaks everyday than dead bodies. It’s not a pandemic when you drive by funeral homes and cemeteries and they aren’t busy. It’s not a pandemic when you’re out of computer chips but not urns or caskets. It’s not a pandemic when you can buy all the cheap burial plots you want.

…it was a PLANdemic. And Ukraine is their next phase.
