Are you serious paralysis.ha! Ha! You need to read up on back pain.there is no way i would be paralyzed.my father was a truck driver for 40 years with back pain in the fruit and produce market before there were pallets everything was done by hand and it was common knowledge to have back problems as a truck driver without meds.

Now, who, ever you spoke with, does NOT KNOW all.
What that person DOES KNOW, is that you have a "pre-existing" problem/health issue.
You have NO insurance now??
You may be DENIED insurance or at the very least, be given insurance with LIMITATIONS.
Like maybe, 2 years of "waiting" for FULL coverage.
Like maybe, a VERY HIGH DEDUCTIBLE.
Having a "pre-existing" health issue, can also limit the companies responsibility should you get hurt and file a workman's comp claim.
They can also fire you once you go out on medical leave for any operation you will need, and ANY operation that you may need, like even your appendix, can cause them to fire you, as you are "damaged goods".
I really think you SHOULD NOT disclose your medical history to ANYONE when applying for a job.
If the meds you are on, do not show up on a drug screen, then ######, KEEP QUIET.
Driving a truck, climbing in and out, working the load in the trailer, and trying to sleep in the bunk, will all add up to some terrific pains real soon. -
Hey... you don't owe anyone here an explanation of what your medical condition is or what your appointments are for. That's nobody's business but your own. If you already know you're "good to go", then that's all that matters. Don't feel the need to explain yourself no matter what anyone says.

I "blew out" my back in the fall of 2000. I applied for workman's comp, and after all the "rigermorol" ,and countless doctor visits and Oxycontin and oxycodine, I had to have major back surgery, and have steel rods, had that disc removed and bone replacement.
Spinal fusion is what it is called, and what you are looking at in a very short time.
I WAS NEARLY paralyzed, and COULD NOT WALK more than 5 feet. I would get tears in my eyes, I could not even sit down for long periods of time, or get comfortable in bed.
My nerves were damaged, and had scar tissue on them. Our nerves in our spinal cord, are like "angel hair spaghetti" and as a result, can lead us to being paralyzed from extreme damage.
Had the stupid doctor NOT played around with me and my back the way he did, my surgery WOULD HAVE BEEN 5 months earlier!!!
But workman's comp claims take time, and the doctors want to make sure, no one is "faking" problems.pattyj Thanks this. -
Pat have you been on back medication for a long while? If so why don't you just see if the doctor can give you a 2 month supply? Also if and when you do go with a company you won't have a problem with lifting and bending if by chance their physical requires it?Some companies want you to lift 75 lbs as part of the physical.

Pattyj, i did go over and over again with school ,dot office etc.i investigated everything including the type of medication i was taking.i even had a physical and told doctor what i was taking and my test came back negative .the only thing that anyone failed to tell me is about training time away from home.but recently i was told that ltl jobs usually train locally.but it isn't easy to find one here in florida.i am not in bad shape, believe me i am probably in better shape than people half my age.i just have one deteriorated disk that gives me constant pain ,unfortunately without the medication .with the medication i feel normal, not high.the dosage hasn't been changed in over a year.i just need an operation that puts me out of work for 6 weeks ,but no insurance.

Gismo, at my last job i was working for 13 years.my company paid for all our insurance,so they changed insurance companies constantly to save money .not once was there an issue about my back or medication.and the medication is real expensive.i just signed every nw application i didn't even have to do anything else but sign and make sure everything was correct information, never once an issue.

Pat I don't doubt your word.I along with everyone else is just trying to help.Sounds like you've been on medication for awhile so is their any way possible your doctor can give you a 2 month supply? You see him once a month, does anything ever change concerning your back whenever you see him.So why can't he just make it for 2 months rather then every 29 days.I'm sure your docor is rich,he can do without that extra visit.I'm sure you are healthy as a horse but do keep in mind the physical you may have to take concerning weight lifting.
-
Gizmo, i have a lot of respect for people with back pain .but my problems do not by far compare to yours.do you know that many ,many people have some sort of lumbar pain, even 22 year old who work out constantly and not by bench pressing too much weight.it is a common issue with many especially truck drivers who unloaded trucks before pallets were widely used.
