    Not anymore.
I currently see more and more companies offering 60+ cent , with minimum 1200+$ guarantee pay, and they not 1099.
Heck my company just raised paycheck (and it's w2 hazmat tanker, , with weekends off) , to 71cpm (after 5 years) yet they still struggle to find few drivers we desperately need :)

Is that 5 years with the company or 5 years verifiable?

Rate per mile, Rate per mile. That’s all I hear. How many miles? What type of runs? How much BS to put up with. Gross pay per week, and time home are all that matters. And Equipment for the spoiled Drivers. I’ll Drive anything, pay Me enough. It all boils down to your time. This Job takes too much time from a Drivers Life. 70 cpm should have been the norm 20 yrs ago.

All truck drivers should be making WAY more. Of course then everything will cost way more then.

I don’t Understand your thinking. I should work for less, to live better. Everything goes up in price, at a certain percentage every year. Drivers pay hasn’t t kept up with inflation. The idea that I’m just a Truckdriver and really don’t deserve any more pay, is a perception problem on the part of lots of Workers, not just Truckers. I look at it this way, if I get a raise and my pay raise causes inflation. At least I got my raise first. The other way is for wages to increase just enough to live. Look at pay history, Much better to get pay increases. The old argument about higher wages causing inflation is bogus. Most Working people spend every dime they make. If they have any extra, there’s always something on the list they need or want. Good for the economy. More money in the system, the better the economy does. Every dollar turns over an average of 7 times. That’s why in a downturn, everyone’s eventually affected. Regardless of where or what started the recession. GET the money while you can, it will surely be taken away, the first chance it’s possible. Pay went up for Drivers a lot in the 90s, only to be taken away in 2000’s.
