What?
Another one asking a rate question.
TO the OP, here is the thing, you need to do more than ask a blanket question with statements of nights off and so on.
SO to get you to actually engage and show more fishing for answers, give us real world examples with some but not confidential details.
Desperately need your opinion!!!

What did the company your with have to offer you to be the cfo . Let me guess $$$$$ we are no different .Clearly it's a low paying route that your not turning much profit if any using your truck and drivers there for you want a piece of the pie and have someone else deal with that headache

$1000 a day with your trailer would be a starting point and if there's lots of aggravation with this work the price goes up......
Lepton1 Thanks this. -

I answered it as I best I could with what information was being supplied. I didn't say or insinuate that the OP was trying to rip anyone off. But there isn't a lot of information to go by to give better advice.HaulinCars Thanks this.

Look, you, as a shipper want to save as much money as possible on shipping costs. I, as a shipping serbicr provider, want to make as much money as possible on my services.
If I had a factory, I would be acting like you and if you had a trucking company, you would be doing what I do. That is how this business works. There is no need for hurt feelings.
As in OP's case, I am 99% sure, he did his calculations and he figured by hiring o/o he would be saving more money. But trying to pretend he would be doing it for different reasons, just makes it look like he is out to screw people off.Last edited: Jun 12, 2017

@DUNE-T ....it's called game theory...
Every player is trying to improve their positions, but not willing to show true intent, all while acting altruistic...FalconsFan21 Thanks this. -
This is an impossible post to answer based off the complete lack of information posted by OP. Perks? How about proper compensation? That's perk enough for me.
I manage to get home every weekend working random spot freight no problem making OK money. Every time I was offered or looked into "dedicated" it was always a race to the bottom and they'd toss an operator under the bus faster than you could blink an eye to save $50.
Everyone wants to be home often and on weekends. You're on the right track by eliminting these as company driver positions and contracting them out. That's how you get it done cheap. Not sure why you are getting resistance to this from higher up. -
Ok first off need a little information.
1. What equipment is needed?
2. Who's authority?
3. Insurance needed?
3. Requirements i.e. Loading/unloading drop and hook p&D
4. Invoicing? ( how long to wait for processing)
These are just some of the questions that need answers before rates are negotiated. Being an owner operator is still running a business. You would not try to make contractual decisions with out all the information.HaulinCars Thanks this.
