i would appreciate honest info on the small delivery vans that some guys run for custom critical. do they really stay out weeks at a time with a van?i see them out and about all the time and curious as to what kind of schedule they keep and what they run for miles? thanks for any replies.

I don't know about them personally, but I have a firend (and his wife) that drive a D class truck i think it is. T660 with a single tandem axle, with a drop axle, reefer and a bunch of electronic crap on it. They do pharmacutical and military loads, and stuff for NASA. they are part of the "White Glove" fleet or something and they love it. They stay out about 3 months at a time tho...... so i called them and asked them about what you were talking about and they said that the freight is allright for the small van/sprinter guys. He said they do well going border to border (Canada to Mex) but the pay isn't great and usually you will have to drive straight thru with maybe a nap in between. The initial start-up cost is low, but come winter time, don't expect to work much as he said they usually sit for 3-4 months.

I have not done this so I'm no expert. From my research, I'd say if you want to live in a van this is for you.

    SHC Thanks this.

Like I said, they love it, but they are also in a team and run coast-to-coast in a bigger truck.

I do know a few expediters who run van's but they also live in Detroit and Toledo, which is where I hear most the freight comes from??? i'm guessing auto parts?

But they only do 1 run a month, maybe 2. But they make $5,500 a trip in a $20k van LOL
