Did you know how long it would take to unload before you booked the load? I would never book a load like that ever!

Usually layover from my experience is: layover is paid between 6 to 8 hours. I have gotten layover between $250 and $450.

What am I missing here (if anything)?

In the original post's load description, it reads, "detention must be reported 30 minutes prior to entering".

How does one know ahead of time that they will be detained (and for how long) -- even before they enter the premises? o_O

Isn't that a bit too much like --> which came first: the chicken or the egg? :confused2:  :tongue3:

Lol, I read it that way at first myself. What they mean is 30 min prior to the 2 free hours. So basically detention starts 30 min after notification and officially entering detention. 30 minutes notice. However you want to put it. Just more BS.

    Siinman Thanks this.

No, I missed the part about 24-60 hrs. It’s my fault. My main issue is with the way they misrepresented the delivery time and claiming they are known to unload early if possible. That literally never happens at this place. At this point, I’d be happy with $480. I’ll know soon enough.

ran into a similar situation at ZF transmissions in SC.

luckily I was a co. driver with a good transportation manager.

ZF had people waiting for over a week to unload and this is all with appointments.

after sitting all day, my company had me leave and bring load to Charlotte, ( my terminal/warehouse), gave me another load out.

they brought it back to ZF twice with same results and finally put in our warehouse and charged them for storage!! lol.

guy at gate at ZF said they call in trucks as they need the parts, not as appts say.

.. just bs the broker that you are delivering the load to independent warehouse if proper detention or layover not added with all inconvenience fees added ... i hope its last time with this broker ... I did several situations like this .. most i got $1k for port delivery rescheduled for 24hrs later

The big problem with this whole thing is its to cheap.
If one was to receive say $500 an hour for delay this would never happen.
Thats why I am getting out of the business.. To much free time.. And the carrier I was leased to cared more for the big oil company's than their drivers..

That sucks! I am confident that they did it intentionally, as they have trouble covering those loads because of the long unloading times. Good luck
