We had a load that was supposed to pay detention for 3 days. We were told it "might" show up, in Feb. It didn't.
What's the best way to follow up on detention pay? Someone owes us $2250. While I'm asking the question, why do we have to wait for months; to see whether or not we receive detention pay?

It is in our contract and just about every other carrier's contract that detention and TONU are paid when actually collected. You can call Contractor Services and see if it was billed and or collected, yet. It probably has not been paid, yet. Most customers drag their feet on detention and TONU payment. After being here over 15 years, I can honestly state that I have never not been not paid for a promised detention, but I have seen it take close to a year to get it. I recently recieved a $400 detention from last April, 10 months. I contacted Customer Service, for that one, something I seldom do.

Eaton once took 5 months to pay for a couple thousand in detention. I called every 30 days for a status update from the payroll department.

Yep, about every 30 days to ding them with a reminder.
BTW, I never count on that money, until it is on my settlement. -
