I'm actually downloading my e logs to keep track of this on a weekly basis .
I will post the results as the weeks go by so all can view it and see how the hours play out .

Yep!
As long as people are WILLING to work for free, why should anyone pay them more? My average take home is in the $1k-$1,200 range every week. that is after all State and Fed taxes.
You agree to work for pennies, that is all you will ever see.truckerdave1970 Thanks this. -
Break it down however you want. Maybe it should be a higher hourly rate for line 3 and a lower rate for line 4. You will still end with about the same you are making now. However, if you are going to reduce productivity of my equipment, all because you want to sit and whine about the way things are, then you wont be in my truck for very long. Put your big boy pants on already.

So by your meaning, you are saying it's ok not to pay drivers a fair wage, and where us drivers are trying to find ways where everyone in the trucking field can make more money or at least to be able to make above minimum wage your answer would be the same as any other BFC, you do that and well replace you.
Why would you just be ok with this, but that ok you just keep paying those slave wages, there are many that are happy to just work for free or just above free as it is anyways. -
I log every minute that I'm doing anything. I normally have 20+ hours a week on line 4. And I'm a tanker puller so my load/unloading times are way way less then reefers or even dry van. If I would of logged line 4 when I pulled reefer I bet I'd have 30+ hours a week easily on line 4.
-
Minimum wages are for burger flippers, why should truckers get paid that much? That's why I'll never pull a reefer and try to avoid dry vans also. I'll stick with tanker or flatbed.
AdamToomanybikes, nightgunner and truckerdave1970 Thank this. -
Something tells me will never see things change in this industry .Jokingypsy Thanks this.

So do you feel like you should be paid the same salary you are earning now, but accomplish less, and somehow your boss will be happy with that? Or do you feel you should be paid more for the amount you are accomplishing now? Either way, as you continue to drive, you can call your wage whatever you want, you don't have to accept it, if you can find a better deal elsewhere, then go for it. If you think the boss is just raking it in, then become your own boss.
-
Yep you are correct and we will get more and more rules to follow.
as long as BFC and others seem it's ok to pay low wages and haul cheap freight your right hasn't been a change in wages over the last 13 years since I have been driving in matter if fact hiring of drivers now at .26 CPM when I first started CPM avg was .30 CPM. So over all you would be correct, -
No one is saying that. Depending on your position you are partially or fully responsible for this push back as you are involved in the race to the bottom of the rate pile. As a truck owner, you accepted the cheaper freight. As a carrier you accepted the cheaper rate.......in either case the driver doesn't get paid because you agreed to not get paid. It's time he did.
Burning the bottom line will hurt the driver first and hard, the system is setup that way. Change will be long and painful but to needs to happen. The CSA scoring system has opened the door. Carrier behavior is changing as carrier's learn they can no longer "afford" Johnny left lane or the immigrant who speaks no English.
These drivers are simply going to follow the rules of on duty time. They have chosen to get off the treadmill .....
Don't whine bud, Mechanics are just as exempt from overtime but for some reason ...you pay them. Go ahead and explain that one.....
