The broker is out of the office this week.
I have never waited two weeks to have detention approved.
Since contracts are between carriers and a broker then why are we even responsible if their customer pays?
The brokers make contracts with carriers directly and that's what the drivers should be paid for their extra time.
I was told I can't bill two times for the same load. And the detention must be added to the rate con. I don't know but that should not be legal.

This is the whole complete problem with the trucking industry, if like most owner operators you use brokers.
Everything is geared toward the broker. I despised signing those agreements because I knew that I was signing all my rights away to everything, even if they're a good broker, even if it's a good load, even if it's the best of conditions, you've signed your rights away, you are responsible for everything and they are responsible for virtually nothing.
I think the way they hide behind it is because your agreement is actually for the load. Anything beyond that is accessorial, and they tell you they have to get that from the customer.
By the way I would also call them and ask speak to the manager of that account.
I had a problem one time with the broker, I forgot all about this until just right now, I had a problem with a broker one time and I called the manager of the account and he straightened it out.
Also, some brokerages have a customer representative or a liaison or something I can't think of the name of it, but some of them have someone that is just for the carriers.
It's not a rep that you booked the load with or answers the phone, it's someone that works for that brokerage that their job is to follow up with carriers and like be a liaison in case there's any problems between them and the management or issues. I've had that also but I can't remember what brokerage that was.
But I would call to ask and try to talk to anybody that's in charge of that account or even anybody that's a manager or a supervisor, if you alert them to that they may be able to help you.
If they have accounting departments call them. They usually know how all of that type of billing works and maybe they can help you get in touch with someone else.
If not, you just gotta move on, and cross them off the list.Beaver9 Thanks this. -
I will wait until Friday then I will make a call again. It is going to be almost two weeks.
If that won't be ready by then, I will know they are holding it on purpose and not waiting on their customer to do it.
Lesson learned.
