If you have a small bolt hole cam Erich suggested the 4292 cam. 81mm injector height and don't have to tear into the gear train. That's my plan this summer.
bbechtel16 Thanks this. -
My 14L came with the 912 cam and I was not impressed with it at all. When I put a 526 cam in it, that woke it up. I've since installed a 309 cam. The only difference I noticed in the two is that the 309 works better below 1500 rpm and the 526 likes to run over 1500 rpm but I think I'm going to go back to the 526.

309 a 18mm cam bolt

I wonder if the 4912 cam in your truck didnt have a great affect in the fact you have a 14l vs. us guys with the 12.7's. I know personally my truck prefers to stay above 1500 rpm and pulls best when its above 1500 rpm. It doesnt like to be lugged down in the lower rpm. Its like riding a 2 stroke dirt bike gotta keep the motor wound up in the rpm powerband.

Whats the 4292 cam comparable to?
-
Shows 20mm online.
-
Any one know what a step up would be from a 4912 cam?
-
Probably. The 5526 marine.
I'm notrying sure what the 4292 would compare to, Erich suggested it as a good upgrade from what I have "430/470" without changing cam gears. -
Isn't the difference in the cam gear just the size of the cam bolt? The gear ring itself is identical i thought.
