I'm looking to purchase my first truck and came upon a 1990 Volvo with a Detroit 12.7 that the current owner says it's a marine motor. What's the difference between the marine or the original? Is there a benefit to this?

    Thanks

Have any paper work on that marine motor?
Some boats are not held to the emission standards as trucks. They can also have tremendous cooling capacity. Designed for constant RPM and load. They can have high HP ratings but how will it preform across the RPM range in a truck?
Does it just have a marine cam?

    alds and jamespmack Thank this.

There is very little use for a marine profile cam in a On Road truck.
