Voltage fault are sensor or wiring related, nothing to do with actual temp.

Roughly, oil temp needs to be within 20ish degrees of coolant temp

Oil temp sensor on a 60 is left rear right next to the oil pressure sensor.

You're talking about an oil temp sender, not often used on a 60, and only operates the gauge on mostly pre 96 trucks
