i thought that check valve was to keep fuel in the head for start up--i have seen them changed a few times--but always on older miled up engines

My 1999 FTL w/S-60 has this problem, and would smoke white when started. I had a 6-pack put in and the truck still did it. I asked if they replaced the check valve on the head and they told me NO!!! I asked why the hell not, it was on the estimate. Once they realized they messed up, they replaced the valve and everything was fine after that.

    Just my experience.

Well.. with six new rebuil injectors the problem is fixed. They smoke just a bit on start up just like SHC noted above. They hooked up one of their loaner computers and there was no smoke whatsoever. So, not sure what to think. They also said my engine call for a ddec 3 or 4 opposite of what i have now. My fuel mileage picked up very noticeably. I need more time to confirm but i know i got atleast 6mpg across the ten. My truck fires right up now. Im still alil upset at my mechanic which had me throw $1300 parts and labor and not fix anything. Yes i have a new check valve, fuel pump, fittings n stuff but when times really tuff i think could have used some better diagnostic techniques like this shop i used in fontana...

Thnk u for all ur help and input fellas..
