I own a 2008 freight liner with a 60 series engine. After 4 years of nightmare repairs and a engine being replaced only after 80000kms, I'm having same issues with new engine, no power , engine seems to derate itself and feels like I no turbo boost. So much for my new truck experience feeling. I've had none. I've lost track of all my down time weeks for them trying to find out why these problems are occurring .Over 4years I have had : 3 new dpf,s. new injectors, new head, new ECM, about 5 new programs for ECM, then they replaced engine, then no power problems start again: black smoke, no power, new injectors installed. Wow! I have had enough of down time at my expense for there engine reserch! They don't tell me why these problems are occurring . " They don't know why! ". Scary. I'm now waiting for a call from a Canadian Detroit rep . I have a service to provide to for a company, this truck is a big problem. Something has to be done, I've had enough of this as a customer of a new truck. Please respond to this letter. Thanks.

Very sorry to hear about your nightmare. Which Detroit dealer are you working with? I've dealt with Cullen Diesel Power in Surrey BC for over 20 years and they are top notch. Admittedly, I haven't had your problems, but these guys are the best engine mechanics I've ever dealt with. If you get a chance stop by there.

Is this a series 5 or 6 engine?, I too have been thro a set of injectors and had egr issues, and different flash files installed to keep running, awaiting for a delete to get rid of the headache they installed on this engine

It should be a 6. My dad ran one with minimal trouble. He had an EGR valve go bad and killed fuel mileage, no check engine lights until it really set loose. Then, a sensor or two for the DPF system. I'd try another shop.
