I don't mind the rule BUT I have said it before both freight and truck load are run about as "Union Like" as any non-union company I have been at or heard about. I like places that enforce seniority rules when it comes to pecking order as that is how it has always been done in industries I've worked in (construction, timber harvest/transport, Limited OTR). I wish we got the union health care too but you can't win them all![]()

1.Dropped the requirement ofall driver being able to cross into Canada(We opened SW Regional and thus they wernt going to Canada,so countless drivers like myself questioned as to why we had to go and they didnt,so it was dropped
2.Hazmat Endorsement:At same time many a new driver could not get endorsement or didnt have it,,same as above,,Dropped
3.Animals: at same time, the policy was only 1,ONE,Uno only one animal per truck and it had to be of a medium size, this was changed to 1 per person in truck(teams)
Then when Conway aquired us,we had numerous drivers meetings, and out of them they relized that they would loose drivers if they went back on their changes,so then the new and excisting rules were made for all new hires
As for a "Union Feel" Im not sure where your getting that??? but I can understand,I held on to my Hazmat for almost 2 years after the change(alot of us didnt),it ment I was almost assured a Conway or FEDEX load(FEDEX,they copied your cdl when u checked in)
And Also back then,if you "opted out of Canada" you had to do it for a year at a time(and sign a form, stating to that),and if you complained about miles trust me both of these were brought up...
Your Productivity: Again time and time again i have been told that if i did both my miles would go back up,so Im not sure how this is affecting your productivity(btw Im not trying to be sarcastic in any sense)
Lastly,it is totally different now that we are actually owned by Conway,,,before we were we pulled so much of their freight on a daily basis, and now we hardly pull any
Before the "merger",,if you were to pass a pilot in Austintown,Austinburg, hebron OH,or the Petro in Girad Oh.or the T/A in Buffalo,or Pilot In Hazleton PA, you possibly would see 6-10 trucks in each waiting for their respective relay to get there,Monday-Friday,,Or if you were within 200 miles of the Conway Yards,,3 in greater Chicago,Franklin Wi,South Bend In,Santa Fe Springs Ca,Denver,StLouis,Indy,Salem Il,Columbus Oh,Atlanta ga,Nashville,Memphis,Knoxville,Blythe Ca,Phoenix Az and on and on and On,,,each and every single day,,now??? not so much, but back then you were pulling Multiple400-450 mile Conways everyweek, then they would throw you a bone and let you get out of the system on the weekend, and pray you went to Laredo

Frankly ECU51, I don't believe my post needed any clarification. There was no intention whatsoever in the post to slander Con-way or dissuade any potential employee from joining Con-way. The post was accurate and MY opinion was also rendered. In context, the post was non-offensive.
