    Agreed. Something is seriously wrong if it is burning, not leaking, a gallon a day and you don't want to ruin your core.

    Local dealer quoted me $3500 for a genuine detroit kit. I see some aftermarket ones for $2000. I don't think it's worth the risk to save just $1500. You'll make back the difference in 1-2 days of driving. I'm sure if you shop around you can find genuine detroit for a bit cheaper, this was just a call I made to one dealer.
