I will add that day to day testing is only good to see where you are at during different times of the day and with how your feeling. I would do this for the first 3 mos and then check it every now and then as suggested above. You should care that much as Condo said "diabetes is nothing to fool with". You can lose your vision, legs and other things that are associated with diabetes. Make sure you take really good care of your feet as in putting lotion on them, keeping them trimmed up and no athletes foot.
Also, you can buy a cheap glucose meter and cheap test strips from walmart. You dont need the expensive ones. I use reli-on and the strips are about 50 cents a piece.

Wooly what were you eating, that is EXTREMELY AWESOME!!
and if My friend, Steve's blood sugar is over 200 when the doctor eval's him, what will they do and tell him, will he be able to complete school and get the cdl at least? -
My problem was Root Beer. I have always drank alot of liquids. That is one of the signs of diabetic tendencies. Pop has lots of corn syrup in it and I would drink a 2 liter bottle in one sitting. I love white rice. I also love to pour sugar on strawberries and drink the leftover juice. I would eat an entire pie.
Just before I went in to take my physical I downed three large glasses of Orange Juice. I had a bagel with strawberry jam. No proteins, just the wrong things.
You friend needs to make sure he doesn't eat anything 8 hours before the dot physical. He should in the hours before that, 8-12 hours before the physical eat proteins. Beans if he is a vegatableholic and steak if he is a real man. Drink water.
If he has a blood sugar count above what the company is concerned about, he will be asked to see his regular doctor on his own dime. The doctor will do a lab on his A1C. That must be under 9. If it isn't, he will have to wait 30 days and redone it. I recommend that before he goes to the doctor he buy the home A1C test and do it his self. That test cost $29 for 2 test. The doctor will charge at least $100. No reason to get a test done that you know you are going to fail.
Once he can show that his A1C is under control without the use of needles, he will be able to be hired. His physical will only be good for 1 year. If he needs the needles he has to get a waiver.
Oh, and sex lowers your blood sugar so do your duty woman.Big Rig Boi Thanks this. -
That is awesome, I gave steve my diet..
Get a protein shake like syntha 6 or Elite xt.. or the walmart brand.. look for like 2 or 3 carbs and no sugar per scoop.. half a banana, and some berries.. use some almond milk, and make a 16 oz glass of the shake, and then you can eat tuna, and mixed veggies and brown rice, always use half or 1 cup.. i think that will lower your sugar.. thats two portioned meals right there -
I was told anything over 7.0 was uncontrolled diabetes when they pulled my medical card. I was 11.5 then. I'm due for blood work now but my last one was 8.4. I'm slowly getting it down.
