Diary of a current Swift flatbed driver

Buckeye, you probably won't see much if any NYC with our flatbed division that I can tell. We haul a lot of building supplies, which a lot of folks consider crap freight, but it all pays us the same

Ohio's going to be a great place to be based out of. I spent about a month early this winter bouncing on I-80 and I-90...got my Starbucks fix on that lovely Ohio Turnpike quite a bit! You'll probably see a lot of steel coils, and a lot of Laredo runs I'd imagine when you come out of the house (depending where in Ohio you are).

 

dieselgrl: I live in Wooster, OH right off of US 30 between Mansfield and Canton, OH), Regionally, sort of "boxed" in by I-80/90 to the North, I-71 to the West, I-77 to the East and I-70 to the South. The so-called "crap freight" is fine with me as long as the .cpm is the same. Take care out there.

 

Buckeye, I'm in Logan and currently waiting on a flatbed Mentor right now... been about a week and I can't wait.

 

So in essence they are paying multiple times for a driver to tarp and strap the loads. Seems kind of wrong in my mind. But what do I know, I am a dumb dry-van driver?

 

The yard tarp is not a complete road worthy tarp job. Its just thrown on and weighted or bungeedin place so the wind doesn't take it off. A complete tarp job is more extensive.

 

If you dont mind me asking what is your VA disability? I have a lot of comp coming in from them for medical reasons also. Just curious.

Got some miles on that one. Seems I'm still being kept close to the Weyerhaeuser mills and I'm not complaining. Heading from Bruce, MS to Columbus, IN with some sticks.
