Not true. That's how you.get the codes from the engine ECM without a computer.

Depending on the truck and model year it could be any of the following:

    Clutch
    Brake
    Clutch and Brake
Cruise Control - set to" high idle" (which wont high idle, it will just cancels the timer)
    Fuel pedal

My 2010 'shaker prior to me getting the idle timer killed was when the engine light flashes press both the brake and the clutch. Had that sequence verified by the Lancaster shop who looked at the ECM programming.

    I hear ya there,

Just wish that would be an option for me. I gotta pay bills though. I would love to do a 4 corners tour this summer instead of working.

schmud, great posts here, thanks. I too live in Vegas. I am currently attending school and should have my CDL in April. I have a prehire from Swift. Is it true you only made 26k last year? Man, thats poverty wages! The Swift recruiter has been telling me that the first year, I should do about 38k, after about three years, 50k or so. Is this all a load of bs?

That shutdown over-ride button is supposed to be used to get safely parked in the event you have a major engine problem and the truck is about to shutdown. One push will give you about 15 more seconds, keep pushing for more time as needed. That button saved my butt when my shaker was having re gen problems. It may also over ride idle shutdown, didn't know about that.
