I've talked to a couple other swift flatbedders and they want to go to hunt as well. Think one did recently and he'd been with swift 17 years.

I understand, things have been in flux as of late.
From the last word i had if you have 6 month experience in vans, you can go through a 5 day tie down course and be given the keys to a flatbed truck, and they will take new students, just like before

This has been a interesting read and i enjoyed following you in your adventures, im a former swift flatbedder from 7-09 i had to leave for a family issue, But returning to swift next week as a intermodel driver. Anyone know What my Chances are like getting back into flatbed, Would i have to take the training over again?

Check with Swift's driver services. They should have already had a conversation with you considering you are starting again with them. I have found that generally a carrier's insurance will dictate when one will have to be retrained. It will all depend on the company. Call them and ask.

    Good luck out there

Hey Schmud you mind if I update this thread? I've been getting some really different loads lately that some people might want to see. Maybe they don't though. Also looks like tarp pay went up to $25.00.

I want to say sorry ahead of time if I am wrong.

There are a few items in your story that I can not confirm and don't pass the smell test in my book.

    1. XO of 2nd BN 2nd SPG? There is no 2nd Special Forces Group
    2. There is no record that I can find of a CPL Jenkins receiving a silver star from actions in 2004.
    3. There are no records of a Major receiving a DSC for actions at anytime in the last 10 years. The only DSC given during the time you describe was to a Colonel.
    4. I find no record of a USMC SSGT Jenkins being KIA in Herat afganistan, or anywhere else, in December of 2010.

So I have to ask you, where can I find information to back up your claim. If you are who you say you are then piece of cake, my apologies and thank you for your service HOOAAH.

If not, then this is not the place for you to be lying about service to our country.

I start training for Swift in Millington on 7/18. Maybe I will ask for flatbed if it is available there. Sounds like the miles are nice and you don't have to wait for loading/unloading like I'm hearing happens at the grocery warehouses.
    Good info! Thanks!
