Not to be a stickler on semantics, but the 10 machines you hauled were skid steer loaders. "Bobcat" is a specific brand owned by Ingersoll Rand.

You are undoubtedly correct. I was going by what my mentor called them.
Still, I was glad that I didn't have to tie them down.

I suppose we're just of two different modes of thought on that. I'd rather not have to place my trust in someone else's work when it comes to load securement.

You can be certain that I checked the straps for proper tightness. Was assigned another pre-loaded/strapped load a few days ago in Laredo. When I check those straps nearly every one was lose and I found one that was missing entirely. Turned out my work was for nothing as the load was overweight and we didn't take it.

The pre-secured loads in Laredo always worried me because I'm a little anal retentive on HOW I strap things, and the Mexican carriers (and few US ones for the matter) never tie them down to my liking. But they do seem to ride well generally speaking. I just do more frequent load checks for the first few hundred miles ;-)

That sounds like good advice no matter who packed the load.

Of course. However instead of the minimum 50mi from the shipper, 150mi or 3hrs which ever comes first, I would generally do a 20mi, 50mi, 150mi or 3hrs at first just to ensure. If anything seemed to be settling or shifting, the increased checks would continue until the settling had finished and securement was staying secure.

I've been floating around, just haven't been posting much until recently ;-) Tend to hang around the newbie forum. How's things been?
