I don't know if schmud0811, or anyone else on here has answered this but.
If, I'm a green driver and I want to drive flatbed, how do you get it? Do you just ask them for it? Do I need to live in a certain area of the country to pull flatbed?
If anyone has any info on this, let me know.

Call recruiting and yell them you want flatbed.
** tell not yell. #### autocorrect.... -
Ok I will yell at them, maybe I could get 50 cent per mile to start. LOL
No, really. I live in Florida, the closest Swift to me is in Ocala. If I tell them I want to pull skateboards, where do they sent me? Or should I move somewhere esle. I was thinking of going to Las Vegas anyway, maybe that is better for trucking? -
Anyone home?
-
It doesnt really matter where home is when youre a trucker. You will probably be based out of the Greer, SC terminal. All that is happens to mean is where your driver manager sits. Living in Florida, however, you will probably have to take a dry.van to get home. Not much moves out of Florida except water and paper.
As far as terminals go... I live in Laredo, TX and am based out of Phoenix, AZ. -
If'n yer moving to Vegas, then Phoenix, Az will be yer terminal, and if I understand past posts its a flatbed terminal, too.
-
Thanks so much for the info, I will mull it over. I'm leaning toward moving to Vegas however, I prefer West Coast.
-
If I remember correctly, it doesn't matter where you live.
For example, you could live in Las Vegas and still be out of Memphis or Edwardsville.
You can always change your terminal. At least that was the way it used to be back in 2008. -
Ran into a flatbedder the other day, and after finishing the class 3 months ago, he told me that he has not pulled one flatbed load. It has all been van. He lives in Houston, and is based out of Greer. He says that he has been running alot, mostly coast to coast, and he was on his way home at the time. I ran into him in SC, and he was enrte back home.
