Oldnewbiegonnabe, I don't have to work. I just want to, I am a retired First Sargent 19D/19k. Honestly its not all that bad here. My wife passed away 5 1/2 years ago, it gets me out of the house. My son is 20 and out of the house, and next year going to West Point. So It's just Me Myself and I well and my ####zu Mitzi . Swift is what you make of it. Its that simple, are some post on here about Swift true probably would not doubt it. And some I believe are embellished to make the writer look better and are missing a fact here and there. now ill shut up and stop Hijacking this thread
OK I am from Mississippi, but lets say i am from Missouri "Show me". That most freight is from Schneider Logistics. Not saying it is not but Proof ????? OK name me one Trucking company that say bah that 1500 appointment is nothing if your late who cares we don't ???? BS when fruit of the loom dedicated started up 2 years ago 15 of the 26 drivers had 6 mos or less and one just had 1 mos away from trainer Ok yep we rail head but how much???????? 30% 40 % 50% 60% show me the doc's saying how much is put on rails again pretend i am from Missouri "Show me" Ok on east coast most if not all runs are 500 to 700ish now if you are on the west coast then yes its going to be longer runs. Can you tell me why that is. if you don't know then look at a map and see how far the major cities are I am never forced to run illegal not sure what that ones about
We pulled a load the other day. Bobtailed from Phoenix to Henderson NV. Got a short load to LA. They got us a cherry. preplanned us a load of carpet to San Antonio, and Houston. Lots of easy running. Pulled a load to Laredo dropped this AM. Leaving early Saturday for East of Flint Michigan.
Rugtrucker, you're gonna have to cool it with the good reports about Swift and the loads you're getting. Nah, it's good to hear.....flies in the face of the naysayers. Oh, and you are not Ex-8 years anymore, right?
I made friends with a Swift rehire in Memphis. He is pulling $1000 a week right now. (no hazmat) He gets home once a week usually. We talk every other day or so. He lives in Savannah TN. Off the main drag. I live 4 miles from the nearest truck stop, 4 miles South of I-40. I will have been out technically 6 weeks when I finish up. Should have 4-5 days off. I did a reset near the house. Had my sweetie come get me. Probably do 2-3 days in Laughlin NV when my mentor gets his hometime .He is in Bullhead City. Bad thing is he wanted it for this Sunday. We are heading to Flint Michigan. He stays out 4-5 weeks at a time. He has to. (L/O) They aren't the best at getting him home. Did I mention they want you to stay out for 6 weeks to do your training? They tell the trainers to try and take you home. Frankly if you have a good trainer stick with them. They are some bad ones out there.
You need to go see the BOL's...usually in the top right corner it shows the source of revenue...might be over your head(?). Since I only put 14 years into Swift..13 as trainer/Mentor...did some DM work...and planning...and Safety...you might be right I don't know about Swift...NOT (that is sarcasm BTW...the NOT part). Swift is PART of a group of solicitors for freight, granted they do have some exclusive accounts, but only some, not all. The bulk of their freight comes from the Schneider logistics group. Check it out yourself! You don't recognize sarcasm do you? In many cases, it's not who you know but who you b___! You failed to make mention if any of the new dedicated drivers selected had any service failures...I will bet not! Also when a new "dedicated account" opens...friends of the DM for the fleet will get first crack at the fleet, and the new solo...I'll bet his Mentor was one of the ones also on the new fleet. Any rebuttal on this one? I pointed out two instances of Swift trailers on the rail...one of 45+ and the other 35+...out west here, all companies have rail freight...in your neck of the woods I can't say...but I do remember seeing a bunch of Swift trailers on the rails when I ran I-40 out in NM and AZ...up on that stretch of rail, those trailers were west bound headed for Fontana...probably not empty either. Sniping now are we? You forget that the west fleets run more freight than the east...maybe you didn't know that either. The east fleets get to wait much more (otr, not dedicated) due to the fact that Schneider and JB Hunt have a bigger presence in the east, and they both cover their own trucks first...Swift gets sloppy seconds and runs that the others don't have coverage for. Reread the section...they don't "force" you they offer a long run if you will "help" them out...and no they don't ask if you have the hours available...there are many at Swift who "play the game old school". You are very defensive about Swift...keep a good attitude..you might need it some day! Good luck to you and Be Safe!
I did looks like the 2 they use most is C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Transplace again i don't know the hard percentages but what I gather its around 70% with the 2 I guess the same could be said about you This one made me laugh you know when we waited at the ports the 1st thing I said was how many service failures you have. Sorta hard for the mentor to be on the FOL account when he was on wal mart dedicated out of las cruces, NM or los lunas, NM not sure which one he told me once. I was just to dam busy asking if he had any service failures <------ that was sarcasm, and the FOL account was based out of Memphis terminal and we ran out of Gulfport, MS and New Orleans, LA Like i said what is the percentage of otr to rail you don't know and i don't know Sniping is fun....... I spend most of my time east of the Mississippi hardly wait for a load. But maybe that's because i don't ask drivers how many service failures they have Of course i could be wrong They only time that happens is in the Jonestown area because it seems they don't have many local drivers there. And that's every blue moon. oh I have an good attitude I don't have to work I just chose to
Guess I should have known better than to try this. Sooner or later every Swift thread degenerates into arguing. Swift is horrible Oh, they're not that bad Yes they are No they're not Yes they are too No they are not Etc, etc. ***Sigh*** I was merely trying to give a desription of life at Swift. All the good and all the bad. Miles and trips and everything in between. Then wannabes can make up they're own mind. Anyway, argue away. I'm outta here. C-ya, Lucky.
Are you suprised ? It takes every ounce of self control I have most days not to bash these negative whiners. I am beginning to see why the trucking industry has such a high turnover rate... If I was most of these peoples manager I would be waiting for any reason to can there sorry ##$. And before everyone attacks me for saying what everyone else is thinking, remember this, I am NOT talking about everyone. Nor am I talking about valid, contsructive criticism. I am talking about the constant negative whining by disgruntled drivers who can not make the cut...ANYWHERE. But 1nonly.... thank you for your thread and taking the time to update us. I truly appreciate the honest opinion from a current Swift driver. So let the backlash begin....but it is what it is.
