30 minute a go one of our o/o had level 3 at Gallup, nm port of entry. He said he received inspection paper showing violation on it. The inspector told him that system is not ready yet to write tickets .

I got a level 3 in Kemmerer, WY on 12/28/17... Officer asked if I was on paper or electronic... I'm on elogs I replied. She asked me to fax them to her and gave me a #... Went and certified my logs, and sent them 15 mins later they still hadn't came through to her. She asked if I could bring my tablet inside... Nope, sorry, its built into the dash. Ok lets go take a look. Walked out and she climbed in the cab with me, was still in inspection mode so I handed her the stylus and explained what the buttons did... She started flipping back through the days... I had just come off a 4 day weekend so mostly off duty. She asked me to show her how to tell my point of origin this trip and handed me the stylus... I brought up the current day and clicked the first duty status change and pointed to the bottom of the screen... Idaho falls, ID... Ok lets get you paperwork and you can go. Got a clean level 3, which is $50 in my pocket from my company. The whole time in the cab took less than 90 seconds, so as you can see she wasn't looking to closely.

Yeah, pretty basic stuff. I got pulled in for a random level 2 in Cali. the week after the mandate went in effect. Showed the guy my summary screen and he said, "looks good to me." He didn't even care to look at the individual days, etc.

^^^^^^^ They don't want to let on that they don't have a clue as to what they are looking at or how to use it.

A lot of them don't, that's true. Then there's those guys who will spend a half an hour going back and forth between sheets, crunching numbers on a calculator, etc, trying to find one little inconsistency.

That will only work for a telematic type device, not a local transfer type. Federal regs allow either.

Have had cursory glances at my ELD 3 times since 12/18. Today in Neb., portable on 385, trooper walked up asked if I was on paper or ELD, pointed out my tablet, told me to have a nice day. Last Friday Colorado did a cursory check as well, local Sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop (when I stepped on the brake, the lights on the chassis flickered and then went out, loose plug), asked if I was on paper or ELD, showed him my tablet, said have a nice day. Previous week Colo. Trooper saw me stretching after cooling a tire in the snow, he was more being nosey than anything else. We run Big Road.
