That's pretty broad or you don't get out very often to see different people who are well groomed with dread locks as truckers or even besides truckers. I certainly do.

Braids and dread locks are two different styles. My sons have done both & they both look very well styled either way. To each his liking. There is difference between braids & dreadlocks definitely not called braids or man braids for dreadlocks.

Admittedly I don't see too many people with dreads, the ones I do are pretty much as I described, same as the white boys with long ### hair.
I see a lot of people complaining about the lack of professionalism in the industry, yet the minute a company doesn't want anything to do with employees looking like a bunch of homeless people they're horrible.

Thing is, Safety pretty much trumps things. If the job requires certain safety equipment to be used and, for whatever reason, you would be unable, you can't perform the job in what has been deemed to be a safe manner.
I think folks with breathing difficulties like COPD or asthma run into the same limitation if required to wear respirator equipment. If anyone is unwilling to adhere to the personal grooming habits required to use the needed safety equipment. They have made a personal choice to need other employment. It is unfortunate that this sometimes interferes with cultural identities, but due to safety, it is not an option.
My only question about this specific case is, would dreadlocks really not allow you to wear a safety hat? If he could actually wear one, perhaps this is a case of discrimination. IDK.

::shrug:: They are a mega with all that implies. A better mega than most, but still a mega.
A good starting company but not one to build a career out of.
