If you only have the one switch, it only locks between the two differentials. They are still able to do their job going around corners. But now the power is even between the two of them.

Thats not diff lock. That is your power divider. Two different things.

That is what he is saying.
Interaxle diff lock and plain ole diff lock are different.
"power divider" is a more intuitive name IMO.

That's what I'm doing. Learning from books, Google, ytube and here. Some things just present them selves out of foolishness. I don't think your being hard.
I'm about 80 to 85%. Thru the Air and air break system. I'm learning the components now. Im just trying to master this truck. And tools for saod truck. As always. Thanks to every one.

My 1st time in a truck with full lockers on both axles that happened to me. Went to turn and kept going straight in the mud. One of the old guys asked if i had em locked. Yep, well that would be why. The other guys w/o lockers had to chain up and i plowed right through 6-8 inches of mud and snow. That was US-well services. Schlumberger for whatever reason didn't spec their trucks with lockers.

I learned that years ago, summers during college I started out washing tractors at a cement terminal outisde of the PM bay, had to walk inside to turn on the water to my pressure washer after hand brushing muriatic acid on the cement dust so I got to see them in action.

Every tractor we had was in there once a month and in 1972 that was enough miles for an oil change too.

While it was draining, the oil pan plug and trans and diff vents were all pulled and cleaned in the parts cleaner the vent 'hats' on those macks would sit under the stream while the tech took cardboard and putty knife to the excess grease in and under the 5th wheel and cleaned every zerk fitting.

Like automatoms doing it the same way to every tractor. One guy 7 to 3, one 12 to 8 and one 3 to 11 did every one of our 65 tractors every month.

Being a cookie cutter mack fleet, every other fluid was checked and topped off, every zerk lubed, clutch brake adjustment checked when the throw-out was lubed and the 'wedge' brakes were lubed and adjusted every A service.

I've never seen a trans or diff vent serviced in any other shop since...1972 was the first year Leakin' Leaman traded in Maxidines and people were lining up to buy them the day the got to Delran, NJ for their pedigree resale...there was a reason for that!

My dad knows all the old companies you talk about. You by chance remember Interstate (small LTL barn) on 49th and Dell in North Bergan?

When we brought the 99 home the vent was plugged, mack rears

I used to pick up totes weekly at GCP off 83rd right by the tracks that run along west side ave
