Did something really stupid

I was trying to get my Galaxy 29 straightened out, had unhooked the coax from the antenna for a second to connect a ground wire, sat back down in the truck and did something really stupid, without thinking I keyed the mic, realized what I had done and re-connected it, got the swr down to 1:8 on channel 1 and 1:7 on channel 20, external meter also says that I am putting out right at 40 watts, didn't notice it until I had finished that there is a slight burning smell when you get right next to the cb, did I damage it? Let the verbal beating commence now

 

I had read several post on here in other sections where a couple of people had made out that it would fry on the first time and that you would no longer be able to transmit, that is what had me worried/confused as I can still transmit and it puts out the same watts as it was before I goofed. Thanks for your response.
