I've done that in the past. It got me home. I don't have the filter part number handy, but any diesel mechanic worth his salt should know this.

I have spare parts for my 382 davco. always had for 12 years now, just in case. the top cap is now different you cannot break it cause now it tightens up then clicks so you cannot overtighten. just like some gas caps on cars, click,click,click. this also does away with needing the special tool to open & close the cap, which we would over tighten, then break off the plastic splines to get loose. freightliner dealers sel all davco parts & most they have in stock, just ask
