    AMEN brother!!!

The foreman / service writer want to make their job as easy as possible. Many times it seems to too hard to tell the customer the truth about how much something will cost because the customer just starts to become too difficult to deal with. Then like Bender says, the repair goes sideways! Everything nowadays has to be done for as cheap and fast as possible. Many repair times, standard book times, quotes, warranty times are a complete joke and impossible to make in the real world. Managers and service writers simply don't understand or even look at the work and most times actually have no business at all making up quotes, promises or repair directions. Diagnosing from the office chair usually doesn't work out. We try to be as competitive as we can to the point of making no profit just to get the work in the door. Couple this with customers that want everything for free and you can start to get a poor attitude. I'm pretty proud of the crew I work with. I think we are great techs that care about the work we do and look out for our customers. But many times it is the people in the service or managers office that the customer deals with directly and we end up getting a bad rap for nothing! Next time you get your truck fixed, don't say thanks to service writer, they didn't fix your truck, you should thank the mechanic instead!

Yep, it's all about money and directing any blame on the mechanic, after all, that defenseless guy is so tired by now he probably won't even defend himself, and who would listen if he does? So the lying cheats cover it up with the stroke of a pen, and they become company heroes!

Any of you who have followed me, know I was spending $115/hr at WI Kenworth and had nothing but sloppy, crappy and incorrect service.
Total of OVER $27k spent at KW in 2010-2011. (parts/service - mainly service)

I get better service at the Petro and the rate was cheaper...

    For example:
    1. Virtually nothing fixed right the 1st time and they had the gall to charge for return repairs.
    2. Disrespect to my interior/exterior. Grease all over.
    3. Not following RO instructions
    4. Replacing Jakes and not asking if I want a top end done while they were in there.
No one there suggested additional items that generate them revenue while ideally saving me some money and grief in the process...

..I have found a few techs that can think outside the box and plan on working with them as I move forward.

And you'll come out way ahead in doing so, J.D. Pick your mechanics just like you picked your wife or your truck.

    Hanadarko Thanks this.

Better off finding a good shop or a mechanic that works on the side guys at dealers don't care if your happy cause there getting paid the big bucks find someone that actually needs the money that will go the extra mile I'm all for the small guy screw the man he don't care about you how can you replace the jakes and not even ask if you wanted the overhead ran I couldent even see charging you more you have to adjust the jakes so your already there you have to run the jakes at the same time your running the rack that sounds so lame that's what make all the small guys get a bad rap so many drivers think all mechanics are the same so not true

$250 to go back and run the overhead. That was supposedly a discount.
I wanted them to do it WHILE they were in there....nope.

"Oops...the tech forgot. Even though I am the service writer, I too forgot to tell him..."
