its not just in the trucking industry. i am a mechanic at john deere. i am not certified but have more than enough for my certified but it seems like all they care about is if you have your journeyman ticket and time. i know a couple mechanics the dealership love because their time is more efficient than mine or the other 2 guys that have been there for 10 years but they only do half the job. they don't dyno or know how to look at pressure guages and diagnose the problem. They just parts replace. replaace then send it out the door without running and checking it outside for a while to make sure that was the problem. Heaven forbid they do that because that effects their time, without their laptop they are lost. I am so sick of it that i am considering going back on the road.. Im just saying that geez these new mechanics or techs out of school really think they are something and when you try and tell them something they try and say something they say thats the way the computer says!!!!!

easiest check is to check your fuses. if thats ok. check to see if power at headlight when you put on bright. could be a switch but being that old of a truck probably bad or coroded wiring
