Agree on that! It's going to run "cooler" on coolant temp side but not internally in combustion chamber. Partially bcz of high fuell injection and longer stroke. Because EGR system itself was designed to lower temp in combustion process. But Volvo D13H seems to be very sensitive to eliminating EGR. Possibly bcz of bad tunes.
That's what I'm saying that deleting had nothing to do with the fuel. You don't need to increase fueling just to delete, actually you can reduce it if tuning correctly because the motor will be more efficient combustion. Cracked or burnt pistons are usually the result of terrible tubing that incorrectly sets the injection "splits" ... Ie; Timing. Check out alientech , you can make your own delete tuning that keeps stock fueling and timing .... .
Hey did you ever figure out how to do that pre emission conversion on your d13 I'm looking to do the same
@08630 there isn't enough information on the D13A and it does still use an EGR. From research it's running EURO3 Emissions. Cost would make this a costly experiment since you would have to rely on someone overseas to locate parts and have the knowledge to backdate the D13H we have here in North America.
Volvo D13A pre euro 3 was without EGR but I agree it's going to be really expensive modification to do.
Buy a Glider kit, might be cheaper in the long run. The problem is really with the long run, what do you do if it breaks down and it goes to a shop somewhere. What they do and how can really mess up your truck.
IF you do it you will never be able to take it to any volvo dealer for any repair EVER.... the dealers are starting to put up signs that they "WILL NOT WORK ON ANY TRUCK THAT HAS HAD EGR, DEF, OR DPF DELETED"..... they will not let the truck in the shop for ANYTHING..... unless you want to pay to have everything put back on 1st...!!!
VoMac in Evensville, in. Valley Volvo in Laredo, tx. Mac/Volvo in indy, in. (I-465 ex 4) all in the last 4 months. the way the law reads is if the truck leaves the shop with any of that epa crap not working the dealer can be charged even if it was deleted before it came in and even if they didn't work on the motor...… say you got hit and need body work..... the dealer can't do it because of the delete... that is what the indy dealer told me when I asked about the sign
Volvo dealership in winnipeg said the same thing. I had considered a delete but when I mentioned it to the service writer he said they would be sad to see me go. They would not be able to do engine mechanical work unless the engine "worked to the same standard as it left the factory".
