refers run good. US flatbed too. But dry boxes are less tought so we put more load in rear end area and on kingpin area. But if we haul not more 25 metric ton - no problem.

US trailers may have slider axe. It is a good thing for load distibution.... but sliders go bad on russian roads and we weld it to trailer floor.

we use to add sideguards. It saves trailers and someones life and health in car under trailer accidents. So I advice all US truckers do it like you see on pictures.

The ones I seen in gemany just like the one in the picture with the scania was definately narrower about 3/4 to 1 inch narrower than the tractor on each side, whereas normally trailers we have are slightly wider than the tractor , maybe it's just these trailers the army own

I'm not sure but trailer with Scania is 48' Utility. Ore may be Mond...

As you can see pm pictures US trailers for CIS market are all with lift axes, becouse if we use US boxes with EU trucks we get trucktor axe 12-14 metric ton overload but the limit is 16 metric ton for 6x2 and 6x4 trucktors and 10.5 for 4x2 trucktos so front axe down - and no problem in CIS and in EU.

US trailers with sideguards and European tailamps are used for international shipping. Sometimes drivers do silly mistake when they purchase used trailer from US truck and kill all 12V bulbs with 24V EU trucktor power supply and before 2010 ABS units for US market are easyly damaged with 24V supply. Newer Wabco TEBS E works fine with 12 and 24V supply but needs to be reflashed.

Nothing like what we got. The bottom skirts on the US trailers are just to save fuel. Couldn't stop a bicycle.

in ex-USSR it is the option, but many truckers get sideguards from JY and add to their trailers... really may save life and decrease driver's responcibility issues in cas of accident.

avarage weight of sideguard is about 150 kg only. Europeans use toght steel.

Some trailer makers combine guard with fuel savers, like Fliegl and Krone.

Btw, I'm surprised that US and EU trailers share kingpin size and fifth wheel height.

I have a palletbox as under run protection, it also serves as aerodynamic fuel saving aid as well as extra storage . I think also it's very important to take small steps like this that could save lives, safety is the responsibility of everyone!

I too am surprised they share kingpin size especially when Europe is metric ,

Do US truck have mega style low riding trucks too, I haven't seen any in pics but imagine the volume you would get from a 53' mega cube trailer

Holy sh#t that's alot of volume , that would be sweet for groupage loads, airfreight guys would love one of those! Although some here in Ireland of England have more volume but they are goosenecks and are 5 metres high, some are as much as 170 m3 , but they cant be used on continental europe because of the height, also they csn be interesting in a cross wind, I saw a Dutch lzv a few weeks ago with tiny wheels under the trailer, I'd say the wheels were no bigger than 15 inches including tyres, I've never seen wheels so small in fact I didn't think it was possible to make wheels that small!

    One high volume trailer: http://www.lambertbrothers.co.uk/img/doubleDeckerArtic.jpg
