My company is going to send some people up north again, I would hate to say it but I think I am done with this whole let's see some more snow from the people at work. I think that I am going to pass on the trip. I can deal with cold for so long and then when you put snow on top of that it makes it miserable. That and last time I went up north, Thompson Manitoba Canada I spent three hours outside changing a rim that another driver bent up.

Those pictures sure do look nice and I hate to say this but I am glade your up there and not me. Send me to florida in the winter for a change.

I spent a whole week in Florida
    one day. :biggrin_25523:
If y'all don't like the weather there, wait an hour.
    It'll change. :biggrin_25525:

    But here's what I'm thinkin'.
I bet WildKat would enjoy a few days in the Florida Keys
after sendin' a few months up thar in the cold snow and ice.
    BuRrrrrrrr!

When I win the Big Lottery, first thang I'm gonna do is offer the
lovely Wildkat a week's, all expenses paid vacation in Florida.
    HaiL!
After runnin' the Ice Roads, she might get a kick outta runnin' Florida's
    Everglades Highway --- I-75.
    Also known as Alligator Alley.

If y'all see a log in the road thar, don't get out to move it. :biggrin_25512:
    Especially at night.
    Give it a little time.
    And it'll move itself.

    It's twue!
    It's twue!

    Great pictures ... again.

I drove through the NWT "speed bumps" herd one winter night on my way back to Yellowknife in my VW Golf. The scary part was I didn't see them until we were in their midst (they were spread out across the road and ditches) ... I noticed the dark shapes going past the side window I was looking out of. :biggrin_2554:

I was surprised because they were right down at the river, on the short stretch used for winter to re-join Highway 3. I had only ever seen them north of Ft. Providence before then.

Oh yeah ... you don't want to hit a frozen Bison turd pile in a VW either. :biggrin_25523:

Thank you lostNfound... I really enjoy the country up there...there's nothing like it anywhere else in my opinion.

In winter they do come right down to the river...then the gov't hires the locals to keep them off of the ice & on the north side of the river as they had a serious outbreak of bovine TB a few years back & anything south of that is considered to be infected & shot on sight...sad really.

I saw the results of a small pick-up hitting one last winter...not a pretty sight...

I saw the remains of a long nosed Big truck ---
After a too close encounter with a moose.
    That weren't pretty either. :biggrin_25512:

It was hard to tell who 'won'.
That Pete was smashed clear back to, and included a
    part of the cab.
Which is where Mr. Moose was then located.
    Head first.
Head was in the bunk area.
Buttox protruding out where the windshields used
    to be.

The nose was gone, and the radiator was mid-way to
    the firewall.
Looked like the motor mounts mighta broke.
The drive shaft was at a weird angle.

I can only imagine what an animal that size could do to
    a pee-kup truck. :biggrin_2551:

Have you ever ran through small eskimo towns/villages? Pics? Have you ever been broke down out in the middle of no where? Very interesting thread! :yes2557:
