    Years ago when there was alot more Mom & Pop Truckstops more of them had a 'Refer Fuel/Off Road Diesel pump w/ the Red dye in it. Nowadays the major Truckstops just mark the receipt as refer, it's the same fuel just taxed differently like mentioned before you get a refund on the tax paid when you file the IFTA quarterly

    We had DOT come in our yard one time and dipped tanks on all the trucks in the yard.

    @flood

    LSD was for EPA04 engines... it came out in 2003
    ULSD was for EPA07 engines.. it came out in 2006 and replaced LSD . 08 model year engines have EPA07 standard.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

    I have never been inspected yet. Do you know since I fuel at Loves I don't think their fuel is dyed at all. Will they want to see my last fuel receipt to see if I bought my fuel correctly or will they not care? I ask because I don't keep my receipts, but should I keep them?

    Their fuel is not dyed. Why would you not keep your fuel receipts?

    Just an FYI.
    The off road non taxed ULSD red dyed fuel is exactly what you use at home for home heating fuel.

    Bean Jr. and Roberts450 Thank this.

    They inspect at weigh stations in ag areas and are said to target farm and livestock auctions looking to catch people there with diesel pickups filling out of the tractor barrel.

    Heard of it, haven't seen it myself.

    The Florida agricultural checks have a sign saying “ fuel check point” as does the scale house’s in North Carolina.
    I have been running that route for fifteen years passed those fuel check points and have never had my fuel checked.

    I live in a small town in TN.
    They set up on the main road about once a year and stop every diesel car, pickup, and semi going thru and dip the tanks... if they find red fuel they fine the driver $10,000 and seize the vehicle for tax evasion....

    PE_T and Cabinover101 Thank this.
