Differnce in Eaton DS402 and DS404 differentials

What's the difference between dsp41 3.36 and dsp40 3.36?

 

My husband had me to take a front rear-end to Jab. I told him it was a 402 with 355 ratio he said come on we got everything here . I take it he called said that was a 404 and he has one right there .all that was wrong with my was the pinion bearing . But now he tells me he can't fix mine no parts for it but he sold me the 404 rear-end and keeps mine says it is a 404 to .now for $2900.00 plus my rearendd and we had hell putting in and now have to pull it back out nuts not long enough so are they the same or what?

I meant bolts he said he has to pull it back out and i have to go get longer bolts .Is the housing for a 404 and 402 actually different or is he doing something wrong?

I felt like first of all he should have told us the difference and gave a choice on what our options were to fix ours or buy the one he already had done . Is there a exchange because if so what kind of exchange price on one .?
