Should I sink money into the digital temp. control, or get a used dial control from another truck? Its on a 2001 EX with sleeper. It doesnt change the heat when turned down. I tried it over the winter while going down the road in 10° weather this year.

Some are cable controlled and the cables are prone to seizing

Ok I misunderstood your problem that its the AC.
You have a thermostat that sticks into the evaporator that controls the power to the clutch.
I had a similar issue yrs ago, I just bypassed everything by hooking up a manual switch to the AC Clutch.
Maybe this shouldn't happen, but my first compressor lasted over a half million miles and 3 yrs and 1 recharge on my second compressor .
