I had a new LCD made by Mitsubishi in my truck. To be honest I really don't see what the big deal is.. I always was able to pick up a few digital stations wherever it was available.. Sure I would not get any lets say out in the middle of NE or WY but heck it was hard to get a analog signal in the same areas.. I think this article is more hype the realistic.. I bet those who have a digital TV as I had who search for digital station pretty much will say the same thing.. The suggestion that you are going to be forced into getting cable or satellite in order to watch TV is a little much..
Digital TV poses problem for trucker

If the digital signal is so weak then how can the Dish network and other satellites transmit from space. I believe you are talking modulation. The digital signal (100% power -full signal=100% modulation) is encoded onto the carrier wave (voltage can change) = a big sine wave with a full power digital wave on it. It does seem that the digital TV channels are in the higher TV frequencies.
I thought Dish was already Digital. =should plug right into a digital TV.
I have a freaky Phillips 32" CRT (tv) with HDMI that can output 1080i.
Bottom line: Try using your old antennas first for HDtv reception -and it seems that the DTV-analog boxes help pull in the DTV signal (try the RCA one) -
they give you a 3 month window
Go order another one. -
You can pick those coupons up at walmart, best buy ext....
You really don't need a high modulation on a carrier for digital.. That is the entire point of switching to digital is that it opens up air space..(and it is clearer and more information can be sent threw a digital signal.. A Analog signal on a carrier looks like a bunch of squiggly lines on the carrier.. Digital on the other hand is simply off and on creating a box like look on a carrier.. The boxes are exact same hight off of the carrier where the analog signal has many spikes and falls.. This is where they get bleed threw.. This is not really an issue with digital because digital is off and on and decoded simply by how long it is on and off.. that is a simple version but gets much more complex when multiplexing..Last edited: Sep 19, 2008

i no that if you go and buy a new tv they come with the converter already buil into tthem,
how good are the Sat Dishes? i see them often on trucks at the stops, but im just wondering how good they are, and whats involved with getting all set up for it, anyone on here use 1 at all? and roughly how much does it run a month to use? -
Now I don't think i can post this satellite antenna here but it looks exactly like a qualcom antenna would... Same size and everything.. The antenna is pretty expensive $400-600 depending on where you get it but you can be driving down the road and watch T.V it grabs the signal that well... Vucube is just one of them... (I should say some of them you can use driving down the road) -
truckerjo iv often wondered if they had something like that, i cant see me setting up the dish everysinge time i parked for 10 hrs, and then having to take it down, if i were to get a dish, the one you spoke of would be my choice.
where do you mount it?? on the mirrior with the rest of my antena's?
or off the back of the truck someplace...
also, i wonder how DOT feels about wacthing tv while driving down the hw -
Another one is made by tracvision that is decent as well....
They have other mounting kits as well.. including suction cup mounts.. -
I have a hdtv in my truck. I can usually pick up analog and a few digital channels, it depends on where I'm at. The only thing, my digital picture freezes up alot, enough to make it annoying to watch. This happens alot at truck stops but it also happens when nothing is running around me. Any help? Thanks.
